I haven't written a line of code in 10 months. In that time, I've shipped more than in the previous 3 years combined. Human driven, AI implemented.
After rolling out coding harnesses like Claude and Codex into multiple teams and projects, I've seen how some people excel while others just keep up. If the tools and subscriptions are the same, why does the leverage differ?
This talk highlights the things that I believe make a difference, both in mindset and in practice. I'll share my way of thinking, the places where the human element is irreplaceable, some of my regular resources and the priority AI harness controls you should pay attention to if you want to be an effective AI harness driver.
While most of my time has been spent on Claude, I've also gone deeper into Codex over the last few months. The content applies just as well to Codex and other similar harnesses.
